the images are hand cut from newspapers and are representations of the name of the album. the album covers have no barcodes and notices on them as that would ruin the asthetic value... any information that needs to be on the front can go on the cd case not the outside sleeves.

A video mde by the National Geographic, it was used as part of a nature series. I cant remember the series but form the overall tone of the video i think it was about educating children.

The video is relivant to my research because it look into mind manipulation and control in way. just because it is an ant does'nt mean it is not relivant. just look at nuclear power, all that energy from the smallest things in existance Atoms.

Here is some of the work I have been doing for the Zine project. I have been trying to manipulate image and text by hand. Taking this further I have begun manipulating the images by playing around when I have been using the scanner moving, rotating and zooming the images in and out of the scanners light. NO PHOTOSHOP HERE :D

This is my idea for the reformed object between my padlock and Phil's building. The idea behind it is that i wanted to make something more organic out of the quite cold and lifeless objects that we both had, as the padlock is made out of steel and other metals with bold features and a cold look, whereas the building that Phil chose is quite structured and is made out of things such as concrete and glass which are also quite strong structures and have no real movement or way to move.
My reformed object comes form looking at plants and flowers and the way that they come in a vibrant amount of colours, shapes and forms. i wanted to try and create an object that looks organic such as a flower but but also retains the wonderful textures and shapes that were hidden within our original objects.

Also after using the images to print I reused them in a collage not only to try and make the most of the materials but when the images are enlarged it gives a nice effect.

Here are some of the experiments I have been doing with reverse printing and collage. My aim was to try making the steel and concrete look as if they are hand rendered.

Here is a sample of the collage work I have been doing in the sketchbook. These are some of the smaller pieces that I have done and have tried to make them more intricate compared to the larger ones I have been doing.

I was also trying to develop an item which could be featured in any following collage pieces that I would make, such as the building frame and the padlock outline that I used in some of my earlier experiments. But I decided against it as I couldn’t make it fit into any of the following pieces without taking away from the frames them selves, so I decide to leave these as separate designs.

I also tried moving the images around as they were being scanned in to create a variant effect that I think is an easy and interesting way to manipulate images for experimentation.

In this piece I began experimenting with different textures that could represent the actual textures the original objects have. Such as using the cardboard to represent the texture you would find on the Royal mail building.
This is also effective when the images are photocopied as the light does not reach the folds I the card and they give off a great textured effect.

Here is some of my sketchbook work. I created the typography using a black marker pen and used solvent removers to make the ink spread across the page, giving the otherwise lifeless letters a sense of energy and movement.

After some deliberation i came to the decision to call my Zine Head case. i toyed with the idea of calling it Rolling Deep... a pun on the rolling stone mag but this seems better. I drew the font my self using paint. I don't know why but i think it has a better feel than a hyper stylized text form photo shop or the internet.

This is my first attempt at animating using C4D, its a basic movement from top to bottom.

In my second attempt i added move moving objects. The two gears are moving toward each other and the pill shape is moving downward towards them.

In this video i was trying to animate multiple moving objects at different speeds and directions, one of the things that i have to take note about is the final placement of the objects on all Axis, as the final placements of the objects on the video above are not exactly where they should be.

Moving on from the basic movement videos i added rotational movement as well as just forward back animations. one of the problems i am encountering is that i cant get the objects to rotate on the correct axis.
